How to review a client's RUC before evaluating credit

Reviewing a RUC helps verify tax registration information. It is an identification step within a broader assessment. On its own, it does not establish solvency, credit history, or authority to represent a company.

Where can it be checked?

Ecuador's SRI offers searches by RUC number, legal name, or trade name. Use the RUC portal and its official services. The SRI instructions describe the search methods.

What should be compared?

As an internal procedure, compare the identification received with the information actually shown in the search. Record the date and source, and request clarification when there are differences. Separately verify who represents the counterparty and their authority for the proposed transaction.

Does a recent RUC registration prove a lack of credit history?

The existence or absence of credit history cannot be determined from the tax registration date alone. Tax status also does not replace a review of ability to pay. Any additional query requires an authorized source and applicable permissions.

What comes next?

The company should define what information it needs, how it verifies the source, and who reviews inconsistencies. Keep identity checks, financial information, and commercial decisions separate. If further regulatory review is needed, confirm its scope with the responsible professional.

The ScoreaFácil demo validates identifier format and produces simulated results. It does not query the SRI or a credit bureau in real time, and it does not approve or reject credit.
